As the fall beer season continues, America’s 3,000+ independent beer distributors are busy delivering a wide variety of beer choices to store shelves and local restaurants, bars and taverns across the country in preparation for Halloween weekend.

The offerings this time of year showcase hundreds of beer varieties from long-time favorites and new craft brewers, including pumpkin spice ales, harvest beers and robust ciders.

All Hallows’ Eve is one of the most popular on-premise beer holidays of the year for retail establishments. According to the National Retail Federation, more than 175 million Americans will celebrate this Halloween and will spend $9.1 billion in the process.

“Halloween and even Thanksgiving are among the top beer selling holidays in the country for bars, restaurants and taverns, and with all the choice in the market there’s a beer for every occasion,” says National Beer Wholesalers Association Chief Economist Lester Jones. “Back-to-back holidays with fall sports make autumn a busy season for the beer industry, especially for seasonal beers which make up a growing share of the beer market.”

Pumpkin-spiced brews have also reemerged for the fall. First made in the 1700s, pumpkin beer has transitioned from a colonial staple to a brew synonymous with fall, and brewers have embraced the trend. The category is now composed of more than 1,500 pumpkin-themed beers.

“Over the course of the year, beer distributors across the United States deliver nearly 3 billion cases of beer to more than 600,000 licensed retail establishments,” Jones says. “America’s 135,000 beer distribution employees are a fundamental part of the equation in making sure thirsty customers have access to the latest in beer choice and variety.”
